In Chapter 10 of Canada Day, Jay analyzes this poster by Wassily Kandinsky, painted in 1928: Demi-cercle incliné (Leaning Semicircle).
This is one of those things that, when you read it, you can't help but run to the internet to see what it looks like and follow the character's thought process. Note the colored rectangles at the bottom, and the colored "splashes" coming out from the orange semicircle.
